May 10, 2026 ~ Fifth Sunday of Easter
Sermon Scripture: Acts 7:55-60
Sermon Title: "Faith is Not a Brick Wall"
The story of Stephen’s witness and stoning is reminiscent of the story of Jesus’ rejection at Nazareth in Luke 4:16ff. The reaction of people of faith in both stories is an indictment of the brand of faith that does not allow questions.

What kind of faith is so arrogant--so absolutely convinced of its own infallibility (not considering that humans are limited by the clay of which we are made)--that it demands the death penalty for any who disagree with its dogma? What kind of faith cannot distinguish between questioning our grasp of the divine nature and intent versus questioning the divine nature and intent. In what kind of faith is "being wrong" the unpardonable sin?

     We invite
you to join us in worship, either in person or on You Tube (First Christian Church, Conway, Arkansas - YouTube), or you can view the recorded service later on this website--just click on the "Worship Videos" link at the left of the page. You also can view past worship services on the same page of this website.

If you prefer reading (as I often do), and/or want to check out the footnotes that credit and document my sources, click on "Sermon Manuscripts" on the left margin of this page.

We also have an active Sunday School program for all ages! Visit our Christian Education page to see what's going on this semester!

I look forward to greeting you soon, hopefully face-to-face, but virtually, if necessary!

Together in the Walk,
Pastor Jim
