Lenten Discussion Group
Each Tuesday through March 31, at 10:00 AM our Lenten Discussion Group will gather to discuss the book, The Bible According to Christian Nationalists: Exploiting Scripture for Political Power by Brian Kaylor.
Many people of faith are heartbroken and angry watching scripture distorted to justify political power grabs, exclusion, and even violence. A troubling number of Christian groups, having failed through witness and evangelism to convert the world to their high-demand version of Christianity; in fact, having run off more people than they attracted, have turned to the power of government to enforce their dogma. Christian Nationalists blur the line between faith and politics, replacing the Gospel’s liberating message with a dangerous ideology that undermines both democracy and discipleship.
But the Bible doesn’t belong to extremists. It belongs to God’s people.

March 15, 2026 ~ Fourth Sunday of Lent
Sermon Scripture: Genesis 2:8-15; Revelation 22:1-2
Sermon Title: "Returning to the Garden"
Sermon Scripture: Genesis 2:8-15; Revelation 22:1-2
Sermon Title: "Returning to the Garden"
The Bible opens and closes with a garden at the center of attention: tranquility, enough. Assuming these qualities reflect the will of God, why would we think life between the beginning and the end should be different?
We invite you to join us in worship, either in person or on You Tube (First Christian Church, Conway, Arkansas - YouTube), or you can view the recorded service later on this website--just click on the "Worship Videos" link at the left of the page. You also can view past worship services on the same page of this website.
If you prefer reading (as I often do), and/or want to check out the footnotes that credit and document my sources, click on "Sermon Manuscripts" on the left margin of this page.
We also have an active Sunday School program for all ages! Visit our Christian Education page to see what's going on this semester!
I look forward to greeting you soon, hopefully face-to-face, but virtually, if necessary!
Together in the Walk,
Pastor Jim
